Colosseumul

In sfarsit a venit si randul Colosseumului, cunoscut initial sub denumirea de Amfiteatrul Flavian.

Arena are forma eliptica, iar zidul exterior are inaltimea de 48 m.

Spectatorii erau asezati in tribune in functie de rang.

In caz de pericol, amfiteatrul putea fi evacuat in cateva minute.

It seems that every time that I see the coliseum I have to stop and read the accompanying article. This is beautiful photography of an amazing site. I just think back to the carnage, death and grandeur that this building once held. It's hard not to think about the politics that emanated from the bloody sand. This building is one of the most visually beautiful in Rome and this is apparent in theclassic online photos . Our huge arenas are based on the this incredible architectural marvel. The open amphitheater was well known in ancient Greek culture, but the Roman’s had retractable canvas roofs, and legend tells us that the base could be flooded for spectacular shows where boats were sunk. Christians were unjustly persecuted and became targets of Nero’s wrath. This incredible building is crumbling away before our very eyes. It represents a time when Rome was the vanguard of all things dealing with both art and culture
